Alert #29 Date: January 26, 2012
MURRIETA — The Riverside County Transportation Commission, the California Department of Transportation and the City of Murrieta are working to widen Interstate 215 between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Scott Road.
Construction crews will relocate concrete barriers along the freeway center median from the northern portion of the project to the southern section. As a reminder, outside freeway shoulders have been reduced to eight feet within the project limits.

Monday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Feb. 2 Lane closures will be required each night from 10 pm to 6 am the following morning.
Friday, Feb. 3 Lane closures will be required from 11 pm to 7 am the following morning. No detours will be required during these closures since at least one lane will remain open.

Freeway Shoulder Reduction |

In Effect through the End of Project Please be advised that outside freeway shoulders are reduced in width to eight feet along the I-215 construction corridor between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Scott Road. Motorists and emergency responders should exercise caution within these freeway shoulders and request CHP assistance as needed.

In Effect through the End of Project The freeway speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph. New speed limit signs have been posted. Please be aware that traffic fines increase in the construction zone.

The project will add one lane in each direction to Interstate 215, creating three northbound lanes and three southbound lanes within this six-mile section of freeway. When completed, the project will reduce traffic congestion and delays, improve connections between Riverside and San Diego Counties, enhance goods movement and decrease air pollution from cars that now sit idle on the freeway. Construction began spring of 2011 and is expected to last about 16 months. Throughout construction, remember to Slow for the Cone Zone!
