What is the Process for the South I-215 Project?
Transportation projects have many phases that are required by law before they
can be implemented. The South I-215 Project has been the subject of a Project
Study Report that was completed in December 2006. The current phase of work
involves preparing a Project Report and environmental technical reports. The
technical reports include the results of studies of:
- Current and future traffic conditions
- Conditions of existing roadways and
structures
- Freeway onsite drainage and the accommodation
of offsite drainage that must cross the freeway
- Compliance with Riverside County’s Multi-Species
Habitat Conservation Plan
- Water quality studies
- Impacts to residents and businesses
- Visual impacts
- Noise modeling
- Air quality
- Plants and wildlife
- Updated cost estimates
These reports will help the project obtain
clearance through the California Environmental Quality Act. Once
these state approvals are received, final engineering design
and right-of-way acquisition (if needed) can take place. When
this work is completed, construction can begin.
