South Interstate I-215 Project

Interstate 15 (north of Temecula) to Scott Road (north of Murrieta)

RCTC has completed the preliminary engineering and environmental document to widen Interstate 215 between the junction of Interstate 15 north of Temecula and Scott Road north of Murrieta. This is the southernmost section of RCTC’s 29.25-mile freeway widening project between I-15 and State Route 60.  Caltrans has prepared an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration, and following public review, has determined from this study that the proposed project would not have a significant effect on the environment.

Priority has been given to the southern and central projects along the I-215 corridor, since the freeway narrows to only two lanes in each direction in these areas. This project will add one lane to both northbound and southbound I-215.

Work has begun on the next phase of the project to prepare the final engineering design that will include the detailed construction plans, specifications and construction cost estimates. This is the final phase of work prior to the start of construction.
